Maqui Berry
What exactly is this new “superfruit”? It’s called Maqui berry. Its small, blueberry-like fruit is almost black, and for good reason. The deep bluish-black pigment comes from an incredibly high level of anthocyanins, a type of antioxidant. These anthocyanins protect maqui berry from sun, disease, and biological enemies—and also make Maqui berry a powerful weapon against the signs of aging.
Deep within the forests of the Patagonian region of Chile, there live a people called the Mapuche Indians. The Mapuche have known the secrets of a special plant for centuries, benefiting from its unique medicinal qualities. Recently, scientists explored this wilderness and were amazed to discover that the Mapuche’s treasured plant was even more powerful than blueberry, pomegranate, cranberry, or even acai berry when it comes to antioxidant levels.
